King Canada Tools

So I have been having a ton-o-fun with my little King Rotary Tool King Canada Tools 8353N and  I stumbled upon a deal which would allow me to add a few more accessories to my toolbox for trim and woodworking. It is a 180pc set which includes a variety of grinding wheels of different sizes and  sanding belts. A while back I had picked up a small King, Combination 4in x 36in Belt & 6in Disc Sander model King Canada Tools KC-705L-6, from TheToolStore.ca It is a Canadian built product and has a solid metal exterior. The sander fits my home shop needs perfectly and it has been doing great for everything that I have used it on.

But with the new sander came a little bit of a problem that I never really had before using my rotary tool for smaller sanding jobs. Yup, you guessed it sawdust. Well I wasn't about to run out and buy a large industrial woodworking shop dust collector so stumbled upon a smaller unit with 1 horsepower with a nice cloth filter bag on it and a directional hose. This one is again is made by King Canada Tools. Again I wasn’t about to buy the first thing in sight so I trekked the internet to a few good online tool stores and gave it a good product comparison.

The unit I was looking at was the King 600 CFM Dust Collector King Canada Tools KC-1105C. This particular model was about half the cost of the more popular 1 ½ hp models that are commonly found from different manufactures. I figured that if I was working with wood then maybe the higher horsepower model may be required however in the case of metalworking I am typically not sanding large surface areas so therefore the power requirements would be less.

The KC-1105C  passed all the visuals. The unit is all metal, big, plus the powder coat finish actually looked surprisingly good. The dust collector is adjustable to which ever belt sander or tool you are working with. Moving the unit from one end of the workshop from the other is done with ease.

The unit comes complete with a stand. The exterior quality and design of the stand is certainly one of the better ones I have seen when it comes to cost effective equipment. As far as performance goes…it is fantastic. I know I can survive without one of these in the shop, but I will tell you, I certainly breathe a whole lot better. This sander coupled with the new mid-size dust collector is an unstoppable team. I work on lots of thick pieces of trim and especially crown molding . Typically the length's get measured then cut and then I clean them up. I always like smooth flow and you can really make a home look beautiful if you take the small amount of time it takes to focus on the details. What can I say, I am hooked! 

Next gig is to get a Spray Booth built right into the workshop so I can paint all my trim work without heading out doors to colour my lawn. I have always used my King Spray Gun 8180 in combination with the King Air Compressor Combo Kit which was a bonus because this particular kit comes with a brad nailer and hose, so I got a head start on my trim equipment. I will always have more work to do around the house, having King Canada Tools around helps me finish up my tasks and get over to the beer fridge.
